Felling trees in your garden is a delicate and complex part of having a large garden. Any owner of land is bound by an obligation to cut down trees when this represents a threat to the said owner or even his neighbors. Felling is often confused with pruning, which is a different technique for maintaining at least the trees in your garden. 

Pruning is an operation that is generally done annually, often in summer to facilitate the operation of the professionals who will take care of it. This operation consists of reducing the height and volume of the plantations. Felling is a much more radical method because it consists of “killing” a tree that does not meet safety standards, such as the risk of a branch falling on passers-by, or a risk for property, which would be characterized by the fall of the tree on the road, on an electric power cable or on a building. 

The age of the tree is also taken into account because the older the tree, the more it can be considered as a threat by dropping branches. The tree can also be affected by a disease which would then make it totally useless because it can no longer develop.
